Honda Shows Euro Focus at Frankfurt

FRANKFURT, 12 September 2007: The President and CEO of Honda, Mr Takeo Fukui, revealed the Accord Tourer concept at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show, showing some potential styling and design templates for the next generation of the Honda Accord Euro range.

The new European Accord is planned to be released in the UK from around the middle of 2008.  the vehicle's wider, lower design shows a slightly more sporty styling direction. The car's chassis technology innovatives to provide an involved driving experience without diminishing ride comfort. The range will be powered by a selection of Honda's advanced, low emissions engines.

Honda's Accord Tourer concept flaunts sleeker proportions than the vehicle it will replace, yet it has greater width, contributing to its sportier stance and which allows for a more spacious interior and also widens the vehicle's track to further enhance handling.

The new European Honda Accord will be one of the first cars to offer a completely Euro 5-compliant engine range. Two petrol engines of 2.0 and 2.4 litre capacities and a 2.2-litre diesel engine reflect those in the current European Accord range, however power output will be increased and emissions and fuel economy will be markedly improved.

Production versions of the new Accord will be shown in Saloon and Tourer designations at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show.

In Australia, the European market Accord is referred to as the Accord Euro.  Specifics of the Australian Accord Euro range will be announced closer to the launch date, expected to be third quarter of 2008.
